Day 3 ~ 20 miles and 13 locks (26 to us!)

Day 3 of our continuing journey from Norbury Festival to Rickmansworth Festival in 2 weeks time..

Leaving Whittington (Coventry Canal) at 6am, the morning mist gave the canal a mysterious quality

Approaching the bridge into the village and for once, no oncoming at this ever present bottleneck

Fallen tree to weave around

Hopwas Village on the outskirts of Tamworth ~ very pretty and usually very busy with boats also

Fazeley Junction waterpoint on the right.   We moored with the butty on the wharf side and breasted the motor on the outside of it.  Whilst Richard did the ablutions, I nipped quickly over the bridge to the shop to gather supplies, to return as the boat was just brimming with water.

Glascote Locks after a bacon sandwich on the move

Amington looking beautiful in the sun

First family this season that we have seen!

We stopped for a quick drink with friends outside the Samuel Barlow, only to find out that a close friend has had to go into hospital and enduring tests to find out what is wrong with him.  Very worrying time for everyone involved, and puts everything into perspective.

Polesworth

As Richard calls it 'Animal' Farm. We NEVER see any humans around this farm, just lots of animals.  perhaps some are more equal than others....

Very narrow bit where, of course, we meet an oncoming boat!

2 locks done of the 11 at Atherstone

Half way

By 7.30pm, we had reached the top, so I ran to the chippy and got a chippy supper for us to enjoy as we carried on some more.

The canal planner had told us Hartshill to finish, but we ended up mooring a little further on before Springwood Haven and boy were we tired....

Journey remaining ~ 105 miles and 86 locks
