Day 6/7 ~ 9 miles 2 locks

Day 6 of our push to Rickmansworth festival on 21st and 22nd May.  We started early yesterday morning from just before Nether Heyford, simply to get to Stoke Bruerne, in order to get moored and open the gift shop.

The approach to Bugbrooke

Past the pub

Gayton Junction ~straight on to Stoke Bruerne, Milton Keynes and London ultimately, left for Northampton and beyond on the River Nene

The marina entrance to the right, past the first 2 boats, at Gayton

Beautiful old working boat on it's private mooring

Blisworth long term (14 days) visitor moorings ~ busy!

Blisworth village, where each summer, the whole village gets involved in the festival.  It is probably our most enjoyable event of the calendar!

On through the village past the wharf

Through the tunnel (wet as usual and long at 3076 yards!) and after a bit of reshuffling, we managed to get moored up just past Jan and Barry on The Art Boat and Geraldine and Michael on The Cheese Boat

The following morning, after a busy day trading and lovely evening of drinks in the Boat pub with everyone, we dropped our pair down the 2 locks into the long pound for the day.  It was nice to have some time to finish and start new painting projects for the shop for me.
Richard, meanwhile had got busy making a 'looby' for the top of the butty to hold a line for bow hauling.  It is the little post at foremost end of the hold with the blue line attached.  He did a great job, but he says it still needs welding along the seams and job'll be a goodun!
Tomorrow we tackle the locks early and get through Milton Keynes.....

Journey remaining ~ 52 miles and 67 locks
